Large French Regency fireplace carved in Burgundy limestone

This beautiful French Regency stone fireplace has been made in a beautiful hard stone from Burgundy.

It presents all the main characteristics associated with this style dating from the early 18th Century, an era of freedom in artistic creation in France.

This large fireplace is a handmade fireplace in natural stone : a pair of thin and slender jambs in console, a arched lintel with a sumptuous hand-carved shell in its centre, and finely moulded tablet that follows the movement of the headband below. An opulent molding elegantly surrounds the entire hearth opening. Also note the beautiful sculptures of acanthus leaves wrapped at top of each jamb.
