Beautiful and large Regence style fireplace carved in Burgundy stone

This exceptional Regence style fireplace (early 18th Century) is a beautiful re-edition made in a lovely hard stone from Burgundy. The richness of its decoration and the finesse of its sculptures are remarkable.

The Regence style in France is the period between the reigns of Louis XIV and Louis XV. It is an era of freedom in artistic creation. In the capital Paris, in the sumptuous mansions, gatherings are organized : there one meets writers, poets, philosophers... in smaller and more convivial rooms. The decor is also lighter, more colourful and lively.

This stone fireplace is typical of this French Regency style. In particular, the hand-sculpted shell carved in the center of the lintel and, on either side, magnificent acanthus leaves. A thick moulding surrounds the entire firebox. The lintel is in a low-profile arch, the thin tablet is molded and the jambs are in the console.

An artisanal fireplace with warm colours for a stylish interior design !
